What is a Voter ID Card?
A Voter ID Card (EPIC – Electors Photo Identity Card) is an identity document issued by the Election Commission of India.
It allows you to vote in elections.
It also works as a valid identity and address proof.
Documents Required for New Voter Id Card

4. Verification & Issue
A Booth Level Officer may visit your residence for address verification.
After approval, the Voter ID Card will be printed and delivered to your registered address.
Processing usually takes 3–6 weeks.

1. When You Need to Update
You should apply for correction/update if:
Your name is misspelled or incorrect.
Your date of birth, age, or gender is wrong.
Your address has changed or needs correction.
You got married and want to update spouse’s name.
Any other detail needs to be modified.
2. Details Required for Update
Full Name (as per Aadhaar/official records)
Date of Birth / Age
Gender
Correct Address
Family Details (Father / Mother / Spouse Name)
Contact Details (Mobile & Email for verification)
3. Documents Needed
(a) Existing Voter ID Card
A copy of your current Voter ID card for reference.
(b) Identity Proof (for verification)
Aadhaar Card (most commonly used)
Passport / PAN Card / Driving License (optional alternatives)
(c) Proof of Correction (depending on what you want to update)
Name Correction → Aadhaar Card, Passport, or Educational Certificate
Date of Birth → Birth Certificate, 10th Marksheet, or Passport
Address Change → Aadhaar Card with updated address, Electricity/Water Bill, Rent Agreement, Bank Passbook
Spouse’s Name Update → Marriage Certificate or relevant government document
4. Processing & Verification
A BLO (Booth Level Officer) may visit your home to verify details.
Once approved, the updated voter card will be printed and delivered to your registered address.
Normal processing time: 3–6 weeks.
